A Christmas Song? (Post 22 part 2 of 2)

'Joy to the World'

Everyone knows this song very well. However, when you sing this song, did you know it's not about the Saviors birth? It's speaking of His return! And yes, you may be thinking why does this even matter.

Well, that's the issue today, many will acknowledge that Jesus/Yeshua came to this earth as a baby. BUT they are in denial of His second coming or believe He won't come in their life time. Did you know that it's 'wicked' to think that way, read Matthew 24:48 the parable of the faithful servant. We are to be watching always as true believers!

Even in a simple song such as this, we have been easily deceived. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful song. And we are told to sing and shout of His goodness and praise Him daily. It's just many want to keep the focus on sweet little baby Jesus, but our focus should be on the return of our Mighty King of kings.

You see, Isaac Watt's was known as the greatest of all the English hymn writers as well a pastor, however his hymn was never intended to be a 'Christmas Carol'. When you read Psalm 98 you can see that he was paraphrasing it in this hymn.

It's the third stanza that has been left out from the song, other wise you could clearly see that it's a song of the return of our King!
Joy to the World...

Verse 1
Joy to the world! The Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.

Verse 2
Joy to the earth! the Savior reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

Verse 3
No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make his blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

Verse 4
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of his righteousness,
And wonders of his love,
And wonders of his love,
And wonders, wonders, of his love.

You see, this is when the whole earth receives Jesus, Our King and He reigns and rules. There will be no more sin and sorrows.
Nonetheless It's a beautiful song, let's just be ready for our King always! He's coming soon! I just thought you might find this one interesting.

Much love!
